The Smith House is famous for more than serving great family style meals. For folks planning to stay the night in Dahlonega the Inn has newly rennovated guest rooms along with our cozy carriage house rooms both with a fine amenities package. If you are planning a longer stay we offer two bedroom villas located at Chestatee Village on the historic square of Dahlonega. Just a few steps from our front porch you'll discover the great shopping offered around town.
Originally built in 1884 by Captain Hill, the house itself stands atop a rich vein of gold ore. When Henry and Bessie Smith purchased it in 1922, they turned it into an inn for travelers charging $1.50 a day for a room and meals. And so the tradition of The Smith House was born. Now owned by the Welch family, who has operated the dining room since 1946, and continues into its third generation, The Smith House holds true to is heritage with many of the original recipes and ambience still intact.
